Lauren’s Law of the trend of chronic disease

I propose the following general rule to describe the overall trend one will experience living with a chronic disease:

“The greater the gain and overall improvement one makes, the worse any particular setback will seem.”

    I think you have found the long-missing converse of the enconomic law of decreasing marginal utility. People have won Nobel prizes for less.

    Not that you’d want to be numbered among some of the recent winners, but the cash might be OK.
