The gun battle in Seattle isn’t over

August 25, 2008

Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels took a longer breather than the original 30-day time-out he declared before imposing a gun ban in Seattle city parks and public buildings, but the proposal isn’t dust under the rug yet.

The mayor seeks to draft an administrative rule that will be snug enough to skirt state law and fit the niche of the very small exception a court holding carved out favoring the City of Sequim.

The state legislature has requested an opinion from Attorney General Rob McKenna, input that would be technically non-binding but very persuasive.

The Seattle Times had the story this morning.
