Bear hunting in Tacoma
My husband and I were just speculating last night about what kinds of wildlife we might see on our visit to the Palouse later this summer. We thought probably a badger, elk, and maybe a rattlesnake would be fairly likely summer sightings. No big deal — we’re from Montana — but it would be a refreshing sight for city-sore eyes.
Little did we know, less than 2 miles up the nearest arterial bounding our very urban Tacoma neighborhood, troopers were tracking a black bear, and a wild one, at that. If you’re not from around here, trust me, this is unusual. We more typically just have Crips and Bloods, and yesterday, a visit from our nation’s own Treasury Secretary.
Tacoma News Tribune ran this nice slideshow of the bear hunt, so you can see that, yes, Virginia, things can get pretty wild here.
